Native American Heritage Month is celebrated throughout November, aiming to provide a platform for Native peoples to share their culture, traditions, music, crafts, dance and history. This month-long celebration allows various Native cultures to build bridges of understanding and friendship in their local communities.
Enchantment’s location in Boynton Canyon has long been considered a special place of birth and healing, or the “Garden of Eden,” to various tribes from the region. Paying tribute to the area’s rich heritage of Native American culture, when Enchantment was built, the resort created a thoughtful and diverse program of guest experiences in concert with local tribal communities. Some of the guest experiences include dance and musical performances, storytelling, guided medicine walks and storytelling, to name a few. Performers and participants are from area tribes whose elders have approved their participation as a way to educate and inform resort guests and staff about their history and culture.
This land, its energy and history as well as the wisdom and traditions of the people who live here, all led to the establishment of the Native American programs at Enchantment. What a blessing and a gift it is to all.
